Anja Spilker (Zaloa)

A Video Tour Through Cholula, Mexico

This video gives you an insight of what it is like to be in Cholula and to live as a foreigner in Mexico. In this presentation, Anja explains why she has fallen in love with Mexico and gives you a video tour through Cholula taking you to 3 of her favourite spots: la gran pirámide, el zócalo and el mercado where she practises her Náhuatl skills and learns other indigenous languages from Mexico. This is what’s waiting for you once Covid allows us to hold the Polyglot Conference in Cholula!

Gracias, Anja! I lived in San Pedro Cholula with family from Nov. 2001-Nov. 2002. We would go to the zocalo every Sunday, and we’d often go to the market. I taught EFL at “la planta de la Volkswagen” at a language school there called INFODE (where we would go to Mi Viejito Pueblito for breakfast sometimes). I miss Tortas Hipocampo too. It will be amazing to experience Cholula again in 2021 with everyone (dedos cruzados)!

Dear Annamaria, we created together with our teacher Os (he also has a talk here) a video course to learn the basics of Náhuatl. What is your current level? The course is called “Go! Náhuatl! and you can find it on our ZALOA website. It’s a donation based course.
Os offers this week a couple of live sessions in the room “Zaloa world”, feel free to join him, he is such a great teacher.
