The 6th Annual Polyglot Conference: Ljubljana, Slovenia, 26-28th October 2018

CALL FOR PAPERS

At this year’s conference, we will have four separate tracks for papers and presentations, three related to our overall theme of “Diversity in Language,” and one honoring our host culture and its region.

I. Diversity in Language A): Diversity of Learners

II. Diversity in Language B): Diversity of Learning

III. Diversity in Language C): Diversity of Languages

IV. Languages, Literature, and Culture of Slovenia and its neighbours

Track I. Diversity in Language A): Diversity of Learners

In this track, we would like to open discussions and present research about issues, concerns, and considerations that are faced specifically because of age, race, gender, belief system, sexuality, ethnicity or due to disabilities etc. – who may face special challenges in learning (specific) languages.

If you have a paper that you passionately feel comes under this topic please submit it here.

Track II. Diversity in Language B): Diversity of Learning

In this track, we would like to open discussions and present research about a variety of new and innovative techniques, strategies, and methods for learning languages.

If you have a paper that you passionately feel comes under this topic please submit it here.

Track III. Diversity in Language C): Diversity of Languages

In this track, we would like to open discussions and present research about learning languages from different families or cultures, as well as learning languages that are non-scripted, endangered, minority, being revived, etc.

If you have a paper that you passionately feel comes under this topic please submit it here.

Track IV: Languages, Literature and Cultures of Slovenia and its neighbours

At the Polyglot Conference, we seek to celebrate the regional languages and cultures of our host country and its wider region. Thus, topics in this track might include Slovene, Hungarian, Romani, Italian, Serbian and Croatian languages and linguistics first and foremost, but also other Balkan, Germanic or Romance languages and dialects, the literature of these and other related peoples, distinctive cultural features of speakers of these languages, and so on.

In this area, we hope to arrange special intensive courses in Slovene for participants, and we invite scholars in the field of applied linguistics and the media to inform us of their interest in documenting the process.

Other

Finally, if you feel you have a topic that would be useful and interesting to present at the Polyglot Conference, you may also submit your proposal under the “Other” category for our consideration.

Preliminary deadline: We will accept proposals from now until 15th May 2018, at which point we will make our selection from among the submissions. If slots remain open after that date, we will continue to accept proposals until we have a full program.

Publication: All presentations will be recorded and the videos will be put on our social media channels. There will be photographer also taking still photographs during the time of the conference also, which will appear on our social media channels also. If you apply to talk at the event, you agree to the publication and distribution of these images and videos by the Polyglot Conference on their official channels.
